Nail Services

Nail health is just as important as skin health.  We understand that changes to nail appearance can impact self-confidence.  Nails and the surrounding skin should be treated with respect and care to ensure that the cuticle or nail barrier isn't damaged leading to infection or further nail damage.

At Beauty by the Bay, we have expertise in providing nail health grooming services including medi-mani and pedi services.  These are multi-modal therapies, tailored to your nail health needs.   

We also can treat nail concerns and services for those who may experience difficulty with reaching their feet or are immune compromised associated with:​

  • Medical Conditions & Medication (side effects)

  • Ageing

  • Mobility impaired

In some cases, treatment may also involve referral or co-management with a medical health professional to discuss other options to support your treatment.

Education (Assessment) Appointment

During this appointment, your Dermal Clinician will undertake consultation including discussion to find out more about your goals, medical history, lifestyle as well as methods you may have tried previously.  

You will also have a physical assessment to determine your evaluate nail and skin health of the hands and feet.

This education and assessment appointment is vital to understand your individual situation and goals to provide you with an evidence-based strategy that suits your needs and preferences.

 

If you are having a therapy where light-based therapy is recommended or there are concerns with nail appearance as part of your care plan, you may be required to have a skin cancer screening and clearance for the area being treated prior to beginning therapy.

Medi-Mani/Pedi

This service is designed to assist with general nail grooming and skin and nail health of the hands and feet.

Medi-mani and pedi services can be performed as wet or dry techniques dependent on your nail and skin concerns as well as other risk factors including age, medical conditions, and overall immunity.   This is a health service for those that may require regular feet or hand check-ups but don't have severe nail or feet problems where a podiatrist is more suited.

This service includes:

  • Cleansing and disinfection of the nails and skin

  • Shortening of the nails as appropriate

  • Removal of dry skin and callouses

  • LED or LLLT light therapy

  • Massage and application of skin and nail care products.

TIME 

No polish application 30 minutes

Polish removal and/or application 45 minutes

Nail Fungus - Onychomycosis Light Therapy

If you have been diagnosed with onychomycosis light-based therapies may assist with supporting treatment provided by your medical practitioner and/or podiatrist.  Light therapy can assist with the healing of the nails and skin as well having an anti-microbial effect on nail fungus.  

Treatment will require treatments weekly for 4-6 sessions with observation and follow up of nail growth over a 3 month period after therapy.
