Professional Exfoliation/Peel

After care Instructions

Professional Exfoliation/Peel

What to do/expect from your skin for the next 2-7 days after a Facial peel.

1. Normal for skin to have some redness, feel tight, dry and a bit rough. May present some scabbing/flaking for some people, all of which are completely normal. Avoid touching or picking the area.
2. Could have peeling/flaking days 3-7. Do not pick, rub or encourage the skin to shed, this may cause scarring.
3. Could experience mild breakouts due to the release of debris and toxins. Usually cleared by 1-2 weeks.
4. No active ingredients for 7 days; Vitamin A, retinol, Vitamin C, Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), please speak to a team member at Beauty by the Bay Skin and Laser if you are unsure what you can and cannot use.
5. Gentle cleanse, pat dry skin with a towel as the skin can feel tender for a few days, then moisturise at night and moisturise/serum under SPF for the morning as directed by your therapist.
6. No exfoliants (chemical or physical scrubs) for 5-7 days
7. Avoid sun exposure for the first two days and SPF daily.
8. If possible, avoid makeup for the next 24 hours, best to allow the skin's barrier to heal. If make-up is used mineral is advised and make sure your applicators are clean.
9. Avoid Swimming pools, saunas, and any situation where you might have to sweat heavily, like an intense workout at the gym for 24-48 hours.
10. Avoid Hot showers/Baths within the first 24-48 hours, as hot water disrupts the micro-environment for the skin to heal.
11. 2 weeks after your peel, you can slowly reintroduce your skincare routine.
12. Still avoid facials, peels, laser hair removal or waxing 2 weeks after treatment or as advised by your therapist at Beauty by the Bay Skin and Laser.
