Laser Hair Reduction Home Care Instructions
To ensure the best possible outcome from your treatment today it is imperative that you follow our recommended home care protocol.
Immediately after your treatment
A mild ‘sunburnt’ sensation, with some heat and redness, is common. There may also be swelling around individual follicles where the hair has been treated. This will normally resolve within a few hours of treatment.
It is important to keep the treated area cool.
Avoid direct heat and hot environments E.g., Hot showers/baths, Exercise that induces perspiration, strongly heated environments.
Cool packs can be applied – 10 minutes to the area and then 10 minutes off, at regular intervals until the heat dissipates. NEVER APPLY ICE TO THE SKIN.
Apply an UNCOLOURED Aloe Vera gel to the treatment area regularly until any heat sensation has passed.
Prolonged sun exposure MUST be avoided for 14 days before AND 14 days after ANY laser or IPL treatment. A broad-spectrum SPF 30 + or higher MUST be worn daily on any treatment area that might be exposed to sunlight.
For 3 days after treatment
1. Avoid products containing AHAs, BHAs, and Retinol (Vitamin A).
2. Abstain from exfoliating, using scrubs, body brushing or abrasive washing mitts.
3. Apply a fragrance-free moisturiser daily to maintain skin hydration. Ongoing moisturising is recommended.
Note
After treatment, the hair may continue to appear as though it is growing as it is expelled from the follicle. You MUST NOT tweeze or wax between treatments. Shave or trim the hair ONLY. Treatments must be maintained at regular intervals for the most effective results to be achieved.
Before your next treatment
1. Cease the use of ANY Retinol (Vitamin A) skin care.
2. Inform your therapist if you have been taking ANY new medication, homeopathic remedies, vitamins, minerals, herbs, or traditional oriental medicines.
3. Also, inform your therapist if you have been unwell.
It is also important that we know if you are/ or suspect that you could be pregnant.
