Pre and Post Care Instructions
Treatment of - Pigmentation, Benign Pigmented Spots, Vessels, Capillaries, Redness, Flushing, Rosacea
To ensure the best possible outcome from your treatment today it is imperative that you follow our recommended home care protocol.
Prolonged sun exposure MUST be avoided for 14 days before AND 14 days after ANY laser or IPL treatment. A broad-spectrum SPF 30 + or higher MUST be worn daily on any treatment area that might be exposed to sunlight.
Immediately after your treatment
A mild ‘sunburnt’ sensation, with mild heat and redness, is common. There may also be some very mild generalised swelling (photo-rejuvenation) or localised swelling around individual lesions(pigmentation) or vessels(capillaries) that have been treated. This will normally resolve within a few hours (up to 12) of treatment.
For 24 hours and/or until all reaction has passed:
1. Keep the treated area cool
2. Avoid direct heat and hot environments Eg. Hot showers/baths, Exercise that induces perspiration, and strongly heated locations.
3. Cool packs can be applied – 10 minutes to the area and then 10 minutes off, at regular intervals until the heat dissipates. NEVER APPLY ICE TO THE SKIN.
4. Apply an UNCOLOURED Aloe Vera gel to the treatment area regularly until any heat sensation has passed.
For 7 days after treatment
5. Apply the prescribed Strata ………….. healing gel
6. Avoid products containing AHAs, BHAs, and Retinol (Vitamin A).
7. Abstain from exfoliating, using scrubs or aggressive cleansing.
8. Maintain a gentle skincare routine with simple cleansing, moisturising and sun protection to optimise skin hydration.
Before your next treatment
1. Cease the use of ANY Retinol (Vitamin A) skin care.
2. Inform your therapist if you have been taking ANY new medication, homeopathic remedies, vitamins, minerals, herbs or traditional oriental medicines.
3. Also, inform your therapist if you have been unwell.
4. It is also important that we know if you are /or suspect that you could be pregnant.
Important
In the rare event of the occurrence of a blister, crust, scab or hyper-pigmentation (dark pigment) at the treatment site please contact us immediately on 03 9533 5000 or 0468 399 533 for assistance with how to care for this. PLEASE NOTE incorrect care at this time may result in adverse healing complications.
